All too true – our society is attracted more to luster than substance, and when that luster fades everything that it values fades with it. Count me in on the “slag pile” of folks who won’t be molded into some one else’s image.
well, I shouldn’t say that I totally want to be on the slag pile – there are times that I wouldn’t mind being molded onto Pamela Anderson’s image….
Maybe we are all just a bunch of Magpies chasing the next shiny thing only to forget where it is the moment we put it down.

This is an example of what I’m talking about right here – that people want to mold themselves into some one else’s image so they can fit the established order’s concept of “perfection” (in the realm of beauty, in this case…). To be completely honest, I don’t find the Pam Andersons of the world to be all that desirable (not physically or as an ideal): I see in people like her the very image of an *unhealthy* and *unattractive* individual – as such persons are willing to deform their bodies (enormous breast implants, for example) to fit in with what the herd around them wants to see.
As for me, I have my own concept of what a “beautiful” person is – many people around me find that concept of beauty to be outside the mainstream, but I could care less. And accorind to my own beauty scale folks like Pam Anderson don’t even register a positive number…
